Fall at the Waterfront

The Waterfront -- fall day, sunshine but strong breeze. The 70+ Nov 23 is history. Snow forecast.

The chill has arrived, but not the big one yet. Some of the flowers are hanging on. Thanks.

Woman Watering at the Waterfont

A few days ago, it was windy but warm enough to water the flowers in the pots along the waterfront, which is what she's doing
.
I think a lot of lovely little spots in our area are tended by individuals who simply want to enhance the neighborhood for all of us.  Thank you.

The Orange Holiday

Halloween has always been the most favored holiday in my house. What's not to adore. We get to be someone we're not, the rest of the year. Kids get to wander freely after dark without parents. We get to knock on strangers' doors without any emergency reason. People give things to each other without expecting anything in return, except for the occasional trick. The two main symbols of the holiday are a woman in very cool black clothes -- even a hat, and a vegetable.

Metro -- One Goof & One Yay

A new sign in the Crystal City Metro platform area indicates that Federal Center is the place to move from one line to another. Oops! Whoever laid down the long strip of the lines didn't align the dots with the slanted stops.

I stood next to a man who commented on this error in the tone that many around here do -- complaining about the Metro in general, in the same way people complain about cable service or phone rates. But I'm an unabashed fan of Metro. Problems occur, of course, but isn't that inevitable?

Check out the photo below. That's a freshly painted floor. Both elevators in the Waterfront station received the refreshing coat. Nice!
